Balfour Beatty Ireland takes the view that all activities impinge upon its ability to operate effectively and profitably. Consequently we believe it is in the best interests of the organisation, its employees and clients that robust systems are employed to manage the significant quality, safety and environmental aspects of these activities.

Our Quality Policy, which provides the framework and principles to which we work is distributed to all employees.

Quality Management System

Our quality management system has full accreditation to BS EN ISO 9001:2000. ( View ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Certificate)

The system encompasses all activities carried out by the entire business - from pre-qualifications to contract completions and is integrated where applicable with safety and environmental protection. Access to this system is made available through our intranet based management system called ProCEL.

ProCEL uses mapping techniques to help us understand the processes we use within BBCEL. These techniques tell us what we should be doing to provide better customer focus and satisfaction. They also help to identify what best practices we need to incorporate and find appropriate benchmarks for measuring how we can arrive at better ways of communicating our services.

ProCEL is particularly helpful to new starters in the Company in that it combines pictures with words adding clarity and making it much easier to follow sequences, interactions and hierarchies. It allows us to continually develop improvements through eliminating waste from the system. It also aids new recruits to the company to see how the company works and what they have to do.

On our Contracts, quality management is manifested through the development and implementation of a Project Management Plan (PMP), which incorporates the Quality Plan, Safety Plan and Environmental Management Plan. This describes the project specific HSEQ arrangements providing an all-encompassing auditable live document for the management of the project.

To verify that our quality processes and standards are being implemented correctly, trained internal auditors routinely conduct audits. The whole system also receives annual external audits from our certification body - NQA Global Assurance Ltd.
