The extension of the M77 Motorway with the Glasgow Southern Orbital (GSO) created the largest road construction project undertaken in Scotland in recent times.

Balfour Beatty is the promoter/developer of, and investor in Connect, the Concessionaire awarded the 32 year Design, Build, Finance and Operate DBFO Contract by the Scottish Executive and East Renfrewshire Council to construct the M77/Glasgow Southern Orbital (GSO) Project.

On behalf of Connect, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering carried out the construction of 26km length dual two-lane motorway over a period of 2 years for with a further period of 4 months to conclude the detrunking works to the existing A77 and associated roads.
